Dancers Pass in prior win

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - After sealing her fate with an early break in stride as the post time harness racing favourite last week, Dancers Pass will take another crack at the top pacing mares in the Saturday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash Saturday card gets underway at 12:30 P.M. with the top mares pace lining up in the finale for a $2,700 purse. David Dowling will drive the mare after being crowned the MacDonald Driving Champion last week with a 13-point lead over Gilles Barrieau.

Dancers Pass leaves from post 3 on Saturday for trainer and co-owner Phil Kelly of Emyvale, John MacKenzie of Springvale and Allan McGuigan of Charlottetown. She was on the run before the start in her latest but made up a double-digit deficit in length to only be beat by three lengths and finish in a dead-heat for fifth.

Arc Light was the winner in this class last week and will leave from post 4 for driver Marc Campbell. Indywheelbarrow makes her East Coast debut with post 5 as Adam Merner will steer the Chris Davies trainee for owner Luke Burke of Marshfield. The six-year-old daughter of Panspacificflight boasts a lifetime best of 1:52.2 over Hoosier Park in Indiana and was most recently racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway outside Ottawa.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with Dancers Pass for the top spot this week.

"Dancer's Pass made up a ton of ground last week after the early break to wind up just three lengths in arrears at the finish," MacIsaac said. "She's eligible to rebound today and probably at a better price."

Also in the field are Outrageous Spirit (Driven by Gordie Hennessey), Drivingthedragon N (Jason Hughes), The Time To Win (Barrieau), Mrs Dragonfire (Corey MacPherson), Imagine Speed (Mark Bradley) and Julep Hanover (Wade Myers).

The trotting titans return to competition in race 8 of the card in the $2,450 top trot class. Star Photo and Freddie were absent from racing last week but will occupy the outside two spots in the afternoon's featured trot. Hughes will steer Star Photo from post 6 after a second place finish to Freddie in his latest, while Campbell is back at the lines of Freddie with post 7.

Rose Run Quest Looks To Hit $200,000 Mark Sunday

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - Rose Run Quest was left with too much ground to make up last week and had his win streak snapped at four last week but his winning ways could reignite in the Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval will host a 12-race presentation Sunday starting at 12:30 P.M. and Rose Run Quest is the favourite in the race 11 preferred pace for a $3,000 pot. Marc Campbell trains and drives the son of If I Can Dream for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. Rose Run Quest was a third place finisher behind Euchred and Woodmere Ideal Art last week but will only have to contend with one of them on Sunday as he looks to hit the $200,000 mark in career earnings.

The 43-time winner currently sits eight dollars short of that plateau. Woodmere Ideal Art was able to find a way in between the top two entries last week and will look to continue building on his impressive summary from post 5 on Sunday with Jason Hughes in the bike for trainer Sifroi Melanson. The son of Articulator has comfortably transitioned into aged company this year and has amassed an impressive portfolio of 32 top-three-finishes from 42 starts the past two seasons.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac sees a return of Rose Run Quest's win streak on the horizon.

"Rose Run Quest's winning streak was halted last week but nothing lasts forever," MacIsaac said. "The horse that controlled that one is absent today and as for this guy, the outside draw is the only real knock."

Other entries include Screen Test (Driven by Corey MacPherson), Mick Dundee (Don MacNeill), Creepin (David Dowling) and Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau).

Zack The Men rides a three-race win streak in the afternoon back-up class in race 7 with Dowling in the bike for trainer Elton Millar and owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. Other top entries are Eagle Jolt (Campbell) and Jeb (Hughes).
