CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - In a mild harness racing upset, Heart And Soul showed he can beat all comers even when saddled with the worst post position in the race Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Walter Cheverie trained and driven pacer left from post 6 in the $2,250 Preferred 2 pace Saturday afternoon and power straight to the front in a 28.3 first quarter. Race favourite Silverinyourpocket (Driven by Jason Hughes) then secured the lead with middle splits of 58.3 and 1:28.3 before Heart And Soul abandoned the pocket spot to win by one-length in 1:58.3. Goliath Reigns (Dale Spence) got up for second with fellow Nova Scotia invader Weather Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) finishing third for the $792.85 triactor payout. Silverinyourpocket finished fourth with a flat tire. Heart And Soul is owned by Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside.

Dusty Lane Jacob and driver Ken Murphy teamed up to win the $1,700 Open trot in 2:02.1 for trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague, who co-owns the son of Nureyev with Tanya MacKinnon of Souris.

Corey MacPherson had three driving wins on the program including Southfield Sassy in 2:00.3 for trainer Tom Weatherbie of Charlottetown, Hop Up in 2:03.1 for trainer Keith Campbell of Tyne Valley and Hurricane Hill in 1:59.4 for Joe MacDonald of Breadalbane.

Kenny Arsenault had two driving wins on the card.

Nogreatmischief Upsets Sunday Preferred Pace

If it is preferred pacing action you are watching you want to have a win ticket on driver Walter Cheverie as he captured both top events on the weekend at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

After winning the Saturday afternoon top class with Heart And Should from his own stable, Cheverie came back Sunday afternoon to win the $2,550 preferred pace with another member from his Nine Mile Creek outfit. Nogreatmischief won the top event at 5-1 odds in 1:56.4 rallying from off-the-pace. Cheverie owns the son of Bettor's Delight with the Estate of John Thompson of Charlottetown. Adkins Hanover finished second for driver Corey MacPherson, while race favourite Rose Run Quest (Marc Campbell) completed the $1,55.30 triactor.

Gilles Barrieau made three trips to the historic Red Shores Charlottetown winner's circle winning with Perfect Escape in 1:58.1 for trainer Jackie Matheson of Stratford, Best Risque in 1:59.4 for Brian Ladner of Charlottetown and Dilans Mustang in 2:00.4 for trainer Robert Phillips of Pinette.

Ken Murphy, Kenny Arsenault and Dale Spence scored driving doubles on the 12-dash card..

Live racing goes down to once a week on Prince Edward Island for the rest of the season, with the action resuming Saturday afternoon with a 12:30 P.M. post time.
