STICKNEY, IL - On Saturday evening at Hawthorne, the Jackpot High Five harness racing  wager was capped and had a mandatory payout. After not being hit on a single ticket during the first 36 nights of the meet, the carryover had grown to $224,190.

The pool was capped and a mandatory payout of set for Saturday night with a guaranteed pool of $500,000.

When all was said and done, an additional $1,413,238 was wagered into the High Five pool on Saturday, in addition to the carryover.

The full field of 12 pacers raced very cleanly and resulted in a blanket finish at the wire.

In the end, 9-1 shot Powerful Pulse was the winner, followed by Sweet Donna's Girl (33-1), Naty (9-2), Backwoods Barbie (31-1), and Back Stock (42-1) in fifth. From front to back, the field of 12 was only separated by 5¾ lengths at the wire.

The $.20 payout on the High 5 returned a whopping $64,380.68. Total handle for the Saturday Hawthorne card was very strong as well, as $2,641,399 was wagered on the 12 race card.
