May 10, 2017 - Johan Untersteiner steered 4.9/1 Vasterbo Highflyer (9g Look de Star-Vasterbo Highclass-Pine Chip) to a gate to wire 1.10.2kr easy harness racing victory in the Beijer-Meadow Road (80,000SEK to the winner, 1640 meters autostart) at Solvalla this evening. The Daniel Reden chestnut trainee is owned by Stall Zet and he record victory 22 in 71 starts for 3,92,650SEK earned. 32/1 Sliding Home (4m Donato Hanover-Bar Slide-Yankee Glide) held second for Jennifer Tillman and trainer Per K. Eriksson. This one raced last in the US on October 2 for Jonas Czernyson before export to SWE and this was his best performance in 2017. Third was 1.2/1 Nuncio (6m Andover Hall-Nicole Isabelle-Lindy Lane) for Orjan Kihlstrom and owner/trainer Stefan Melander. Nuncio traveled straight and appeared sound but without threatening the top pair. Nuncio was away fourth, then moved second over early and followed until an attempted three wide move nearing the three-quarter mile mark. That move stalled and Nuncio just earned third by a long neck after failing to respond when plug pulled by Kihlstrom. Charrua Forlan and French Laundry were fourth and fifth. The seven year-old son of FR sire Look de Star-Aurora Sign-SmokeN Lantern was off at 15/1 and ecorded his 18th win in 51 outings for 11,816,821SEK earned. Owner Goran Antonsen teamed the Daniel Reden trainee. 18/1 Your Highness (8f Chocolatier-La Belle Lady) was a solid second for trainer/driver Bjorn Goop, ahead of 45/1 Oasis Bi (9g Toss Out-Up Front JM) with Erik Adielsson up for trainer S.P. Petterson Kadett CD and Nadal Broline completed the top five after favorite Nuncio and Voltiguer de Myrt made misques at the start. On Track Piraten faded after being on the front. II Prix Maurice de Gheest (purse €120,000, 2700 meters, eight starters) was expected to be an easy conquest for 1.1/1 Equinoxe (3m Texas Charm-Pelagie) and 2.2/1 Everest Vedaquais (3m Ready Cash-Spandelle) but both were disqualified, the latter for an early miscue and the former after an impressive victory, presumably for being rough gaited in the lane. Victory was thus awarded to fast-closing 6.9/1 Eridan (3m Ready Cash-Topaze d’Atout) with David Thomain in the irons for harness racing trainer Sebastian Guarato and owner Philippe DeWulf, timed in 1.16kr. Placed second was 30/1 Easy des Racques (3m Rodrigo Jet-Ombre des Racques) reined by J.Ph Monclin and placed third was 5/1 Euro du Chene with Franck Nivard up. The Quinte+ Gr. Delicious (7f Cantab Hall-Ipsara LB-Lemon Dra) easily took today’s Giant Diablo (200,000SEK to winner, 1649 meters autostart, 12 starters) at Solvalla for harness racing driver Orjan Kihlstrom. Daniel Reden trains the undefeated mare in 2016 (five straight) for Stall Zet. She recorded career win 24 in 49 starts, now for 6,111,572SEK earned. Patricia Hastrup (9f Great Challenger-Isabella Hastrup-Sugarcane Hanover) was second for Bjorn Goop and Georgie Mae (6f Valley Victor-Missymandarine-Malabar Man) was third with Johan Untersteiner driving. Delicious left alertly from post one, settled on the pegs and then made a decisive move to the lead at the three-eighths pole. From there she was a good four lengths or more in the clear. Time was 1.09.8kr after quick steady fractions (1.09.5kr after 500 meters and 1.09.3kr at the 1000 mark). Delicious win today starts the speculation of her, Nuncio and Bold Eagle in the 2017 Prix d’Amerique, now four months away. Tuesday at Eskilstuna the quick mare Delicious (7f Cantab Hall-Ipsara LB-Lemon Dra) scored for Orjan Kihlstrom and harness racing trainer Daniel Reden timed in 1.13.6kr over 2140 meters autostart. First money was 35,000SEK. Delicious defeated veterans Shaq Is Back, with Kenneth Haugstad up, and Thai Broadway for Bjorn Goop. Monster Drive and Prince Tagg were next to the line. Delicious is perfect in four 2016 starts and now has 23 career wins in 48 starts. Wednesday the action moved to Solvalla. A 1640 meter autostart test for mares worth 80,000SEK to the winner went to a 1.11kr quick stepping 1.4/1 Wild Honey (4f Cantab Hall- Wanna Lindy-SJ’s Photo) with Orjan Kihlstrom up for trainer Reden. The mare now sports a 4-0-1 slate in six 2016 appearances. Christine Sixteen (4f Muscle Massive-Sharise Seelster-Brisco Hanover) was second for Jorma Kontio and conditioner Veijo Heiskanen. Daniel Reden’s trainee and Stall Zet owned Delicious U.S. (7f Cantab Hall-Ipsara LB-Lemon Dra) continued her comeback with victory today clocked in 1.11.1kr for harness racing driver Orjan Kihlstrom. The Lindy Farms US-bred mare last started and won on August 7 after a four month layoff. She is now three for three in 2016 and 22 for 46 lifetime, good for 5,876,572SEK earned. Quid Pro Quo (7m Yankee Glide-Hostage-Express Ride) was second for Erik Adielsson (trainer Svante Bath) and Knows Nothing (7m Kadabra-Savvy Yankee-Balanced Image) was third with Ulf Ohlsson up. Today’s event was the Malabar Circle As Prize over 1640 meters with 100,000SEK to the winner. On the same card the Breeders Crown for two year-olds was contested over 2140 meters autostart with 175,000SEK to the winner and the 1.17.2kr timed winner was 25.5/1 Global Un Poco (2m Conway Hall-Share The Promise-Yankee Glide) driven by Per Linderoth, for trainer Svante Bath. The first time winner bested Global Unbound (2f SJ’s Caviar-RM Impala-Mack Lobell) reined by Daniel Wajersteen  and third went to Saranda Face (2f Lavec Kronos-Know It All Face-Viking Kronos) that Ulf Eriksson handled for trainer Lutfi Kolgjini. The 2140 meter autostart test drew ten starters for the €190,629 purse. The winner was US-bred by F.V. Caldwell of Lexington and Bluestone Farm.  Propulsion left from post ten and followed in the outer while Ed You, Nimbus CD, Global Money and Rocky Winner were near the front early. At the halfway point Kihlstrom made a strong three-deep rush and made the front with ease. Down the backside the last time Johnny Takter took a three-wide challenge to Propulsion with veteran On Track Piraten (8g Kool du Caux-Monrovia-Rite On Line) and got alongside quickly as then the challengers fanned out in the lane. Propulsion held gamely for the 1.11.7kr score ahead of fast closing Sauveur (6m Echo-Operah Bob-Easy Lover) and Ake Lindblom with 9.8/1 On Track Piraten a tough third.
